SPECIALIST PERFORMING ARTS

Our flagship Specialist Program in Performing Arts offers students the exciting opportunity to develop skills and creativity in dance, drama and music.

THE PROGRAM
In 1999 a significant feature of the college plan was to embark on a program of positive reinforcement and the development of strategic initiatives to raise the profile of the college within the local and wider community. Although this was a school wide initiative, by far the single most significant feature of the improvement in the college’s profile and image, was the introduction of the Performing Arts Program. Acquisition of “Specialist” endorsement by the Department was recognition of the Program’s unique, innovative and ongoing commitment to excellence. Our Program continues to have a significant positive impact on the individual student, their families and the college community.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
The pedagogical goals behind the development of the Performing Arts Program reflect the Cecil Andrews motto “Achieving Excellence Together”. CAPA staff are driven by a passion for education and the significance of students achieving excellence together. This passion focused our attention on the need for students to be successful, confident and independent learners. At the heart of all Performing Arts activities and programs, is the promotion of the following core values, which are inextricably linked to the Australian Curriculum:

  • The quest for excellence
  • Self-development
  • Team building and trust
  • Mutual respect
  • The recognition of individual worth
  • Improved self esteem
  • Self-acceptance and respect of self
  • Respect and concern for the rights of others and their individual rights
  • Personal responsibility and responsibility to the group
